Your Questions, Answered

  • I’m based in the Myrtle Beach and Pawleys Island area of South Carolina, and I photograph families, children, pets, and small weddings throughout the Grand Strand. I also travel to Murrells Inlet, Surfside Beach, Garden City, and surrounding coastal locations.

In the summertime (typically July), I also offer sessions in Lake Placid and Saranac Lake, NY.

  • Alice Vera Photography focuses on family portraits, children’s photography, pet portraits, branding sessions, and a very limited number of intimate weddings. With more than 30 years of experience, I create warm, natural, emotionally genuine images that feel true to who you are.

  • You can reach out through my contact form, email, text or phone. Once we choose a date, I’ll send a simple agreement and session details. A retainer secures your spot on my calendar.

  • Most sessions take place outdoors in beautiful natural light — beaches, parks, gardens, or meaningful locations to your family. I also offer in‑home sessions for babies, pets, or families who prefer a cozy, familiar setting.

  • Family and children’s sessions usually last 45–60 minutes. This gives kids time to warm up, explore, and relax so their real personalities shine through. Pet sessions vary depending on your animal’s comfort level — I always allow extra time for them to settle in.

  • Absolutely. After decades of photographing children, I’ve seen every personality imaginable — shy, silly, spirited, cautious, bold, and everything in between. I never force smiles. Instead, I play, talk, and give kids space to be themselves. Their genuine expressions always come through.

  • Yes! Pets are family. I work gently and patiently with dogs and cats, giving them time to sniff, explore, and relax. Many animals sense my love for them, and that trust helps me capture their true spirit. Whether they’re energetic, shy, or independent, I follow their lead.

  • I offer coverage for a very limited number of intimate weddings each year. My wedding collections are thoughtfully priced to reflect the time, preparation, and creative energy required to document such an important day with the quality and care it deserves. If you’re planning a small, heartfelt celebration, I’d be happy to discuss availability.

  • Soft, coordinated colors photograph beautifully — think neutrals, pastels, or coastal tones. Avoid busy patterns or large logos. I’m happy to help you choose outfits or review options before your session.

  • If the weather isn’t cooperating, we simply reschedule. Coastal light can change quickly, and I always want you to have the best possible conditions for your photographs. Remember wind can be as detrimental to great photographs as rain. I will be in contact with you to discuss altering the time or date or both.
